Tor Bay Harbour

Mariners and harbour users are advised that routine maintenance works will be undertaken to the pedestrian bridge and cill structure at Torquay Harbour.

The works will be carried out by appointed contractors and will require access to various components of the bridge and cill structure.

Vessel Movements

The contractor has informed us that there is no planned operational downtime to the bridge or cill during the maintenance works, and access to and from the inner harbour will remain available subject to the normal tidal and cill operating restrictions.

However, while contractors are working on the structure, the bridge may take longer than usual to raise for vessel movements. Mariners intending to transit the bridge are therefore requested to:

• Allow additional time for the bridge to be prepared and raised.
• Contact Torquay Harbour prior to requiring a bridge opening where practicable.
• Follow all instructions given by Harbour Authority staff.
• Navigate with particular caution when passing through the bridge.

Mariners should be aware that short, temporary delays may be necessary to ensure the safety of contractors and harbour users.

Pedestrian Access

The pedestrian bridge will be closed to pedestrians while maintenance activities are taking place. Pedestrians should follow any temporary signage and alternative routes provided.

Duration of Works

Due to the nature and location of the works, it is not currently possible to provide a definitive completion date. Maintenance activities must be programmed around tidal conditions, cill operating restrictions and safe access to the structure.

Works will therefore be undertaken during suitable working windows until the maintenance programme is complete.

The Harbour Authority will endeavour to minimise disruption to harbour users throughout the works.

Mariners are requested to exercise caution and comply with any instructions issued by Harbour Authority staff or contractors while works are in progress.
