Tor Bay Harbour

Sunday 24th August will see the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race competitors racing in Tor Bay waters.

These extremely fast powerboats will enter the bay from the East and race around two set markers before entering Torquay Harbour to berth alongside.

The race start time at Cowes is scheduled for 09:00 am and the lead boats could be expected in Tor Bay by 10:00 depending on conditions. Mariners are advised to keep to the inside of any turn markers and ensure they do not obstruct the race in any way. Safety boats will be located at each of the turn marks which will be located as shown on the chart below. At either 60 or 90 minutes after their arrival, depending on weather conditions, the boats will restart south of the harbour entrance and commence a rolling start for their return passage to Cowes. Charts below show the route into Tor Bay and exit on the return race.

Mariners are reminded that the International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea will apply at all times.
