Cashless Service

Torbay Harbour Authority and Beaches are transitioning to a cashless service across all offices, quaysides, and beaches. This will cover, among other things, visitor charges, launch and recovery, electric, and short-term beach hut hires.

This change will apply from Monday 14th April. Our goal is to streamline operations, improve the safety of our staff and the service efficiency.

Thank you for your understanding.

Cowes Torquay Cowes Powerboat Race 2024

From 24 August 2024 until 24 August 2024

Map of course

Saturday 24th August will see the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race competitors racing in Tor Bay waters.

These extremely fast powerboats will enter the bay from the East and race around two set markers before entering Torquay Harbour to berth alongside.

The race start time at Cowes is scheduled for 0900hrs and the lead boats could be expected in Tor Bay by 1000hrs depending on conditions. Mariners are advised to keep to the inside of any turn markers and ensure they do not obstruct the race in any way. Safety boats will be located at each of the turn marks which will be located as shown on the chart below. At either 60 or 90 minutes after their arrival depending on weather conditions the boats will restart south of the harbour entrance and commence a rolling start for their return passage to Cowes.

Mariners are reminded that the International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea will apply at all times.

Rob Parsons.
