5 Knot Speed Restrictions

From 01 May 2022 until 30 September 2022

Reminder to all mariners that the seasonal speed restrictions within Tor Bay are now in place. The restricted areas are in front of most beaches and coastline within Tor Bay and are marked by yellow buoys which are charted on Admiralty Chart number 26 and electronic chart plotters.

It is a bye-law offence to exceed the speed of five knots to the shore side of these 5 knot buoys, and extreme care should be taken whenever approaching beaches even at low speed. Mariners are also reminded that they should always keep a sharp lookout at all times for small craft, swimmers and buoys within the bay.

The restrictions are in force between the months of May and September.
