Torbay Harbour Authority and Beaches are transitioning to a cashless service across all offices, quaysides, and beaches. This will cover, among other things, visitor charges, launch and recovery, electric, and short-term beach hut hires.
This change will apply from Monday 14th April. Our goal is to streamline operations, improve the safety of our staff and the service efficiency.
Your beach hut must meet the following specifications:
The huts should be of timber construction (shiplap) with a floor area of approximately 36 square feet.
Composite huts are permitted providing they are in keeping with existing huts and adhere to the conditions below.
Height - 8 foot 2.5 inches (2500mm).
Width - 6 feet 1 inch (1800mm).
The apex should be no higher than 8 foot 2½ inches at an angle of 110°.
No other sizes are acceptable. When contacting a supplier please state your hut is for a site in Torbay.
The roof and fascia should not overhang the sides by more than 3”.
The body of the hut must be white.
The fascias may be of any shape, but should not end in a point.
The doors may be either left or right-handed and should open outwards as this improves the security.
The huts are required to stand on 3x timber bearers (75mm x 75mm x 1800mm) and must be placed in accordance to the guidelines listed below:
Broadsands – Side to Side
Goodrington South – Side to Side
Goodrington North – Side to Side
