Paignton Rowing Club Gig Regatta

From 06 August 2022 until 06 August 2022

Mariners are advised that there will be Gig racing off Paignton beach on Saturday 6th August with consecutive races starting at 10.00hrs, and the last race is expected to finish at approximately 19.00hrs. There will be approximately 10 rowing gigs in each race.

The course is kite shaped and will be marked by high visibility buoys, with the start and finish line approximately 300 metres north of the entrance to Paignton Harbour (see chart below). The gigs will be racing the course in an anti clockwise direction.

Mariners are requested to give the rowing boats a wide berth and are advised that they should not attempt to navigate through the racing fleet or impede any of the participating craft. Mariners are asked to respect any requests or advice provided by the race safety boats and race officials, and to use caution if approaching or exiting Paignton harbour.

All of the safety boats will be working on VHF radio channel 37, call sign ‘Gig Race Safety Officer’.
