Torbay Council strives to ensure that couples choosing to get married or forming a Civil Partnership in Torbay receive not only individual and professional attention together with a choice of location but an opportunity to enhance their ceremony with the option of including appropriate readings and/or musical interludes. These enhancements, as long as they do not include any religious element, can be discussed with the Superintendent Registrar who will be conducting your ceremony.
The law states that you must be 16 or over to get married or form a Civil Partnership (parental consent is required for persons under the age of 18). Persons must be free to marry. Notice of marriage or Civil Partnership must be made 15 clear days in advance of the ceremony.
