FAQs - Mobile Library

What does the Mobile Library offer?

We carry over 2000 books (with a regular change of stock) for readers of all ages, as well as Talking Books, DVDs, CDs and information resources. Our staff also have mobile internet access to help answer your queries.

When does the Mobile come?

The library will call either weekly or fortnightly. Check the timetables on the main Mobile Library page. There are also calendars for each service route with every stopping date highlighted - just ask the Librarian.

How can I join?

Membership is FREE! Just come on board and ask to join the Mobile Library.

What if you haven’t got what I’m looking for?

We can order items for you. As a member of the mobile library, you are entitled to 1 free reservation every time you visit!

What happens if I miss the Mobile Library?

There are no charges for late return of items to the Mobile Library, but do try and return them at your next opportunity as someone may be waiting to borrow them! Books borrowed from the Mobile Library can also be returned to any branch library in Torbay.
On occasions heavy traffic may slow the Mobile Library’s progress, so don’t worry if it does not arrive precisely on time. In the rare event of a vehicle breakdown, we will send word ahead to let you know. If in doubt, you can call Paignton Library on 01803 208321 for information.

What help is there for people who have difficulties with steps or hearing?

The Mobile Library is fitted with a wheelchair hoist and grab rails, and the Librarian is always on hand to provide assistance. There are also induction loop facilities for people with hearing difficulties.
