Torquay Harbour’s new Town Dock Facility has replaced the traditional swing moorings in the outer harbour. The pontoons were completed in spring 2008 creating 170 deep water berths, designed for vessels up to 13 metres plus 19 ‘pods’ for the dry storage of Personal Watercraft.
The Town Dock is firmly aimed at providing affordable berthing and the facility is occupied and enjoyed by the local community. This also serves an increasing number of visiting yachtsmen to Torquay with a visitors’ pontoon, which doubles as a Maritime Events area. Water and electric points are located within this busy location.
The pontoons incorporate features you’d expect to see on marinas, such as a trolley park, general waste/recyclable waste receptacles, even davit points for disabled access. The facility has coded access and is not available to the general public, thereby maintaining security and privacy.
When using the Town Dock please check where your nearest ladder is and remember to wear your lifejacket at all times!
