Assessing the impact of the decisions the Council makes is critical to identify any potential negative impact, to minimise that impact and to ensure decisions are justified, proportionate and relevant.
Specifically decisions that directly affect people and that have the potential for different treatment, access, outcomes or levels of satisfaction need to ensure a robust process is followed.
Decision makers must also ensure they make ‘due regard’ to relevant legislation such as the Equality Act 2010 which includes the need to promote equality of opportunity.
