Sports Makers

A new initiative to get more people involved in sport in the run up to next year’s Olympics has been launched in Devon.
The Sport Makers scheme aims to inspire 900 people in the county to become volunteers with each of them spending at least 10 hours organising or leading sporting activities. It is open to anyone aged 16 and over.
“We want to galvanise everyone in Devon to get involved in sport to make sure the Olympics really are relevant to everyone here in the county,” said James Bogue, Sport Makers project leader for Active Devon.
“Devon's sporting success relies on hard work behind the scenes from a dedicated band of volunteers. Sport Makers can help us build a sporting workforce that will make our county a more active and healthier place to live," he added.
