Sometimes works on the highway, or some large deliveries, require a road to be closed temporarily to general traffic. Such closures require a traffic regulation order issued by the highway authority.

All costs involved for both the closure and diversion signing will have to be met by the person requesting the closure. As there is a legal and consultative process to be undertaken, at least enter amount notice of closure is required.

Applications

Applications for a temporary road closure must be received 4 weeks before the anticipated start date of the closure and be submitted with a plan / sketch of the exact location of the area / section affected.

Fees

• Under 5 working days (no traffic order) - £250.30
• Over 5 working days (with traffic order) - £683.10
