Travelling to Work
Commuting contirbutes to about 30% of all car trips. You can change your travel behaviour in small ways and reap the benefits.
- Try either walking, cycling, public transport or lift sharing.
- If you are a shift worker, ask for shifts that match with people you can share with.
- Request flexi-time so you can fit your hours around timetables.
- Employers are required by law to consider flexi-time requests by parents of children under 6 year old (Employment Act, 2002).
- Ask for compressed working, where you can take a day off if hours are worked in advance.
- Work from home where practicle.
- Talk to your employer about workplace travel plans.
