Finding a Suitable Place to Live
Your housing needs and options will be fully discussed with you and your own views taken into account.
You will be provided with information about any other accommodation options that may be open to you such as supported living and other care settings.
You will be given advice about the help that is available with grant applications through the local Torbay's Home Improvement Agency for any adaptations that you may need to help you stay in your own home.
You will be given advice about housing benefit that might help with the rent and if required you should be told where you can get help with filling in the forms.
You will be told how long you have to wait for any of these things.
Torbay Council has now transferred its housing stock to Riviera Housing Trust, a registered social landlord set up specifically to own and manage the stock. The new organisation is also contracted to administer the Council's housing register. Torbay Council still retains responsibility for the strategic housing function, housing standards, homelessness services and Community Alarm Service. All enquiries and applications for housing should be directed to Riviera Housing Trust.
