Healthy Eating and Exercise

It is important to eat the right amount of food for how active you are and to eat a range of food to make sure you’re getting a balanced diet.  For more information on a healthy diet visit:

Use the eatwell plate to help you to get the balance right. It shows how much of what you eat should come from each of the five food groups.  This includes everything you eat during the day, including snacks.
Try to eat:
  • plenty of fruit and vegetables – aim for five portions each day
  • plenty of bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and other starchy foods – choose wholegrain varieties when you can
  • some milk and dairy foods
  • some meat, fish, eggs, beans and other non-dairy sources of protein
  • just a small amount of foods and drinks high in fat and/or sugar
Exercising is a good way to keep healthy and at an ideal weight. Small things like walking 30mins a day or cycling can make a big difference and is a major part in keeping your body healthy.
