Library Services for Under 5s
All our libraries cater for children under 5. There are collections of bright, sturdy board books for babies, picture books to share, nursery rhyme books and story tapes.
All libraries have weekly Music, Rhythm and Rhyme sessions for the under-3s, whilst Torquay, Paignton and Churston also have a weekly Storytime for under 5s.
Torbay Library Services run the Bookstart scheme in partnership with the local health authority. All 8 month old babies receive a pack of free books during their development checks. Parents are given leaflets and advice on sharing books with babies and young children; they are also invited to join their babies at their local library where they will find excellent collections of suitable boards and picture books.
