Torquay Harbour - Out & About

Torquay's visitor pontoons are only 1 kilometre from Torquay Town centre  In town there are many pubs, shops, restaurants, banks etc.  On Beacon Quay itself there is a broad range of local business and clubs as listed below including a Harvester Pub/Resturant with a fantastic balcony overlooking the harbour.

Living Coasts attraction features a range of fascinating coastal creatures from loud and loveable penguins to playful fur seals, colourful puffins to sea ducks.  There are reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary. A huge meshed aviary allows the birds to fly free over your head, while special tunnels give stunning crystal clear views of the birds and seals underwater.  You are then able to relax in the water-side café with its stunning views across Tor Bay.

Royal Torbay Yacht Club

The well renowned yacht club was formed on 1st January 1885 by the merging of the Royal Torquay Yacht Club and the Torbay and South Devon Club.  It was in 1886 when the club held its first regatta.  The Torbay Royal Regatta is now a well known regatta seeing boats attending from all over the country.  Visitors are most welcome.

Torquay Rowing Club

Located in South Devon, Torquay Rowing Club was founded on 3rd May 1869 by Colonel H Luxmore 'when boats were made of wood and men made of steel'. The oldest sporting club in Torbay continues to promote the sport of rowing under the motto 'Verrimus Aequor Remis' meaning 'We Sweep The Sea With Our Oars'.

Torbay British Sub Aqua Club

Torbay British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) based at Torquay Harbour, Torbay was the eighth BSAC club. Founded in 1954 it is still a thriving dive club. The club meets every Wednesday, come rain or shine, 8..30 pm at the Royal yacht club.
