Personal Watercraft

Tor Bay is one of the most popular venues in the UK for Personal Watercraft enthusiasts with it's 22 miles of coastline to explore and easy striking distance to the three enclosed harbour's of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

With the Teign Estuary and River Dart close to hand, Tor Bay's reputation as a Personal Watercraft 'friendly' resort must be spreading because numbers are significantly up on previous seasons.

The only official launch sites for Personal Watercraft within Tor Bay are the main slipways at Torquay Harbour, Paignton Harbour and Brixham Harbour .  Please contact the relevant Harbour Office for specific instructions.

Jet Ski Registration

Before going to sea, you must first register your Personal Watercraft with the Harbour Authority, completing a simple form and signing acceptance of the Harbour Masters directions and declaration of adequate third party insurance.  complete and return to one of the three Harbour Offices.  In return you will receive free safety advice and a safety pack, telling you where you can and can not ski in Tor Bay.  You will also receive a registration sticker of which you will be required to put on your PWC somewhere visible.  The sticker is also a means of recognising the PWC as the Police often contact us if they find the sticker on a PWC that has been stolen.  We are then able to trace who the PWC belongs to.

Please note that within the confines of Tor Bay harbour (that’s all 16 square miles) under 18’s are strictly prohibited from ‘driving’ a personal watercraft, irrespective of qualifications.

Registration

To register a personal watercraft please fill in a registration form and this must be handed personally to the relevant Harbour Office with proof of your RYA qualification if you intend to register for reduced PWC fees.

For further information on jet skis and personal watercraft please contact Marine Services.

Please be aware that the Harbour Authority will take action against Jet Skiers who act dangerously and break the Tor Bay Harbour Byelaws.
