How can clients get involved?

The Supporting People Team in Torbay are very keen for the people who use Supporting People services to voice their opinions and views on the services they receive.

Torbay Voice - Regional Champions!

Torbay Voice is the new name for the Supporting People Service User Group. Torbay Voice is a friendly group of people who use or have used Supporting People services. New members are always welcome so if you want to come along please contact us. Take a look at our newsletter in the related documents section below to see what we do and what we have achieved

Torbay Voice has been awarded “Regional Champion” status by the Government for the way they involve clients in Supporting People. They share the award with Bolton Supporting People. This has given the group opportunities to produce a guide on how to involve people in their services and to tell people far and wide about Torbay Voice.

The main aim of Torbay Voice is to: Give a voice to people who use services.

Achievements of Torbay Voice are:

  • Involving clients in the planning and selection of Supporting People services
  • Supporting those who use services to take part in meetings and groups which develop new services
  • Organising an event in April to share experiences and ideas in how to involve people in their servces. Information on what happened that day is at the bottom of the page
  • Producing the Torbay Voice newsletter
  • Going to a London conference to talk about Torbay Voice
  • Finding out how their views have changed things

Members of Torbay Voice have produced the Guide to involving clients in their services, Involvement Triangle and the self assessment questionnaire:

  • The guide to involving clients in their services is a guide for staff on how to involve vulnerable people in all aspects of their services.
  • The Involvement Triange is a way for support workers and clients to measure the involvement of clients in their service and with the Supporting People Team. It is measured against how involved they wish to be. It is a clear way to show progress made.
  • The self assessment questionnaire asks clients how involved they want to be in the planning and development of Supporting People services. 200 of these have already been sent out in Torbay and have provided interesting information

All these documents are at the bottom of the page along with others about client involvement and Torbay Voice in particular. This will give you further information.
