How to access services

If you think a Supporting People service could help you then you need to contact the Housing Support Referral Hub. The Hub finds the Supporting People service that you need and/or points you to other organisations. This means you do not have to apply to lots of different Supporting People services. Your social worker, probation worker, housing worker or another organisation can contact the Hub on your behalf or you can contact the Hub directly..

The Hub does not access sheltered housing schemes for older people. To find this type of scheme you need to contact Devon Home Choice and add your name to the housing register.

The directory of services at the bottom of this page shows the Supporting People services available.

Hub workers can visit people wherever it is convenient to them to discuss their needs.

The support part of Supporting People services are free to anyone who gets housing benefit. There is no charge for the support provided by some services such as homeless hostels and many floating support services (services that do not include accommodation).

In other Supporting People services people not eligible for housing benefit are required to pay the support charge themselves. A financial assessment can be requested through the support service provider to see if people can get help with payment. Support service providers will help individuals with all form filling. The financial assessment will be carried out by the Financial Assessment and Benefit (F.A.B.) Team. If you have queries about eligibility for Supporting People grant you can contact the F.A.B. Supporting People grant does not pay for rent charges, water rates, heating charges, electricity, maintenance charges, meals, laundry, support that is not housing related or for personal care services. Any of these charges need to be discussed with service providers
