Box & Bag Recycling Scheme
This scheme is for those areas of Torbay that are not part of the twin bin scheme.
Torbay Council recognises that recycling is important to everyone and has introduced a bag and box system into these collection areas, with the aim of reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Other items such as cardboard, cans, plastic bottles, textiles, waxed cartons and foil can be recycled through our network of
Recycling Banks.
About the scheme
The bags and boxes are clearly marked Property of Torbay Council” but it is your responsibility to look after them.
- They have not been made available for use at any property outside the scheme.
- Lost, stolen or damaged bags or boxes should be reported immediately by telephoning 01803 207205.
How does the scheme work?
- Your recycling containers should be available from 0700 hours at the front / rear of your property once every two weeks on the day of collection.
- Your recycling container should be located at point that has a safe and easy access. The crews will transfer the contents of your containers into a wheeled bin, which is then emptied into the recycling vehicle.
- Containers should not be placed out onto the adopted highway until collection day or at earliest, the night before. Any bags or boxes which are presented for collection on the highway need to be removed as soon as possible or at the latest by the end of collection day to prevent them causing an obstruction of a public footway.
- The recycling containers must not be used to contain bulky household items, liquid, garden, household and/or hazardous wastes. For more information on the disposal of these types of items visit the Garden Waste, Special Collections or Recycling Centre pages.
