Torquay Harbour Area Action Plan
Background to the Torquay Harbour Area Action Plan:
The Torquay Harbour Area Action Plan (THAAP)will provide the framework for development and regeneration in the Torquay Harbour area. It seeks to co-ordinate various schemes to improve the quality of the built environment, and tackle weaknesses in a number of areas such as retailing, leisure, safety and access. The Plan seeks to create a clear vision for the future of the harbour area. It will also include a set of aims and objectives for its regeneration, together with development proposals and policies to achieve this.
Current stage within the planning process:
The ‘Preferred Options’ (Regulation 26) stage is currently being prepared as a result of comments received from consultation on the previous ‘Issues and Options’ (Regulation 25) stage. The preferred option will be made available for further public consultation in Summer 2007.
Sustainability Appraisal:
It is essential that in deciding on which option is the most appropriate, consideration is given to the sustainability implications of each option. It is for this purpose that a brief sustainability appraisal has been compiled for the issues and options stage and will be for the preferred option. These outline some of the key sustainability issues associated with each option.
