Financial Support for those entering Full-Time Higher Education

If you are thinking about entering Full-time Higher Education and live within Torbay, you must make application for financial assistance through the Torbay LA. The selection of websites under the External Links panel will give you further information about student funding and how to apply.

Most students entering Higher Education will be eligible for assistance, but tuition fees and part of the loan will be means tested. Some students will also be entitled to additional assistance such as Disabled Students Allowance and Grants for Dependants, details of these can also be found under the External Links panel.

A new Higher Education Grant of up to £1000 will be introduced from September 2006 for those students from low income families - this will only affect students who commence a course in 2006. It does not affect those students renewing their funding.

In general, postgraduate students are not entitled to financial support through the student support system. The exception to this is PGCE studies for those wishing to become teachers.
