Music in Torbay

TAPA (Torbay Academy of Performing Arts)

This is the name under which Torbay Councils Music Activities are organised. We are responsible for a large number of musical activities both in schools and as “extra curricular”, and these include the Torbay Schools Festival of Performing Arts (in March), The Torbay Sinfonietta “Summer Concert Series for Schools, Youth Ensembles and Orchestras, The Central Government “Wider Opportunities” scheme for primary schools, The “Sing up” singing initiative, musical instrument lessons and instrument hire, Instrumental Bursaries and grants, plus much more.

Instrumental Hire – Our bank of musical instruments, which can be hired before any decision, is made to buy or for those on low incomes who cannot afford to buy.
Ensembles – Opportunities to be part of our Youth Orchestras and ensembles (Youth Wind Orchestra, Youth Symphony Orchestra, Youth Jazz Orchestra, Youth Percussion Ensemble).
Grants/Bursary schemes - for ensembles and orchestras.
N’Exstop – Our music school to further the skills and fun which are obtained in the Wider Opportunities scheme.
