Torbay Academy of Performing Arts

The Torbay Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA) is the name under which Torbay Council Musical Activities will be organised.  We hope that over the next few years, more and more musical opportunities for young people will unite under this name.

We are always interested to hear from anyone interested in the music that goes on in the bay.  Please contact us with comments or suggestions.  We would also love to hear about what’s going on locally, particularly for our young people.  It might even get a mention on our ‘What’s On?’ page!

Music for Childminders and Young Children

Children from the earliest age have an instinctive enjoyment of music, whether it be listening to music, playing simple instruments or joining in with singing at their own level.  At Torbay Council, we are dedicated to providing musical opportunity for children of all ages, including the very young.  We are therefore offering unique free musical mornings for childminders and the children they look after.  The aims of these sessions are to give childminders the tools, skills and confidence to carry out musical activities with children and to share ideas with other childminders in their geographical area.  Attending childminders will be provided with a free pack of resources, including musical instruments, books and information packs.  These are also intended to be shared with other childminders where practical.

This year’s sessions will be held from 9.30-11.00am as follows:

  • 19 March 2008 – All Saints (Babbacombe) CE Primary School
  • 23 April – Brixham CE Primary School
  • 2 July – Barton Primary School
  • 9 July – Furzeham Primary School

Paignton dates and venues will be posted as soon as they are available.

Please download an application form for the course from the ‘Do It Online’ panel.
