Discrimination on Grounds of Religion or Belief

Since 2003 it has been unlawful to discriminate in employment on the grounds of Religion or Belief.
The Religion or Belief Regulations apply to discrimination on grounds of religion, religious belief or similar philosophical belief.
The regulations cover discrimination, harassment and victimisation in work and vocational training on grounds of perceived as well as actual religion or belief (i.e. assuming - correctly or incorrectly - that someone has a particular religion or belief). The Regulations also cover association, i.e. being discriminated against on grounds of the religion or belief of those with whom you associate (for example, friends and/or family).
This means that someone cannot be discriminated against because they have, or are perceived to have a particular faith (for example Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam) or a similar philosophical belief, (for example Humanism, Atheism)
Torbay Council is committed to implementing these regulations fully

Service Delivery

The council extends these principles of non discrimination to its delivery of service and is concerned that its services meet all sections of the faith/belief community
