Equality Impact Assessments
To meet the obligations under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 Torbay Council must assess the likely impact of proposed and current policies. The process of Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) contributes towards our legal requirement to promote good race relations, equality of opportunity and to ensure we eliminate unlawful discrimination for all racial groups. We are also required to publish the results.
As part of our commitment to equalities the Council committed itself in 2005 to extending its EIAs to cover all the strands of equality - race, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation and religion and belief. We are now in the process of refreshing out EIAs during 2008/09.
