Safer Communities Torbay (sometimes called SCT or ‘the partnership’) is a Community Safety Partnership between statutory agencies in Torbay.
Community Safety Partnerships are statutory bodies (which means they have to exist by law) and SCT was established in 1998 in response to the ‘Crime and Disorder Act’. It was created to become the main vehicle for tackling crime and disorder issues in Torbay.
SCT's mission is to work together in our community to make Torbay an even safer place, increasing confidence, responding to local issues and enhancing the quality of life for everyone.
It has four main aims and these are:
- Torbay will be a safe environment
- Torbay will have less victims of crime
- People of Torbay will feel safe
- People will be given an opportunity to change
There are five statutory agencies that make up Safer Communities Torbay. These are:
- Torbay Council
- Torbay NHS Care Trust
- Devon and Cornwall Police
- Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
- Devon and Cornwall Probation Trust
Torbay’s Youth Offending Team is also formally represented within the partnership.
SCT delivers a range of services and projects in Torbay. To find out more about its work, and how you can get involved in helping to make Torbay safer visit the Safer Communities Torbay
